Gabriele Leite & Fernanda Silveira
January 20 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Guitarist Gabriele Leite and cavaquinho player Fernanda Silveira bring the warmth and swing of Brazilian choro to Moynihan.
Originating in Rio de Janeiro in the late 19th century, choro blends European dance forms with Afro-Brazilian rhythms. Often described as Brazil’s first urban popular music, choro values melodic conversation and subtle improvisation within clear harmonic frameworks.
Leite is an award-winning Brazilian classical guitarist whose virtuosic playing bridges concert repertoire and Brazil’s instrumental traditions. Silveira is a master cavaquinist rooted in choro and traditional samba, shaped by Brazil’s rodas and Carnaval ensembles.
